Carol is a passionate mental health advocate, Army veteran, and brain trauma survivor, determined to break the stigma surrounding mental health care. Carol’s journey began when she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps and later transitioned to the regular Army while in AIT for heavy equipment mechanics. Her time in the military took her around the world and earned her two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree—all thanks to the Army.
Carol’s deep connection to mental health stems from her own personal experiences. Having lost her biological brother, stepfather, grandmother, and 13 battle buddies to suicide, she has firsthand knowledge of the devastating effects of untreated mental health issues. Her own struggles after these losses led her to seek help, and she now dedicates her life to ensuring others get the care they need.
Accompanied by her service dog, Hank, who helps with stability and seizures, Carol continues to push forward, passionate about being a "stigma buster" in mental health care. Her personal story of resilience, including reconnecting with her half-siblings eight years ago, has further shaped her dedication to fostering strong connections and support systems for others. Carol firmly believes that just like people would care for someone with a broken leg, mental health should be treated with the same level of compassion and urgency.ant
