TOM SHALBERG, CO-chairperson

Service & Education

Tom is a Vietnam Marine veteran and a dedicated member of the Veterans Mental Health Council. He lives at the Lake of the Ozarks with his wife, Jen, and values time spent with his children, four grandchildren, and two well-loved dogs.

Lived Experience & Advocacy

Motivated by the ongoing crisis of veteran suicide, Tom has been a tireless mental health advocate. He played a key role in the passage of Missouri’s Buddy Check 22 law, which was signed into law in 2020, reinforcing the importance of connection, accountability, and proactive support within the veteran community.

Resilience & Mission

A strong believer in holistic health, Tom prioritizes staying active and grounded through outdoor time, gardening, yoga, and tai chi. His commitment to personal wellness and giving back reflects his belief that strong minds, bodies, and communities are built through intention, consistency, and care.
