Carol is an Army veteran who began her service in the Women’s Army Corps before transitioning to the regular Army while in AIT for heavy equipment mechanics. Her military career took her around the world and opened the door to lifelong learning, earning her two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree through Army education benefits.
Carol’s commitment to mental health advocacy is deeply personal. She has lost her biological brother, stepfather, grandmother, and 13 battle buddies to suicide, giving her firsthand insight into the devastating impact of untreated mental health conditions. After navigating her own struggles, Carol chose to turn her experience into purpose, dedicating her life to breaking stigma and expanding access to mental health care.
A brain trauma survivor, Carol is accompanied by her service dog, Hank, who assists with stability and seizure support. She proudly identifies as a mental health “stigma buster” and believes mental health should be treated with the same compassion and urgency as physical injuries. Reconnecting with her half-siblings eight years ago further reinforced her belief in the power of connection, support systems, and showing up for one another—every single time.
